The goal of this project was to create excitement about the release of new card set packs- this was done through careful planning and design, starting with promotional packages that would be sent out to MTG Social Media Influencers. These promotional packages were designed differently than the card set packs, and instead was designed to showcase the theme of the card sets. While these promotional packs were being set out, we were also working on consumer product graphics behind the scenes. The campaign for these promotional packs was ultimately a success, as they were featured on bleedingcool.com as well as various twitter influencers, and garnered a lot of hype leading up to the release of the card sets.
After the first release of promotional box art, Throne of Eldraine, subsequently released was a line of consumer product graphics that were available for sale to the general public. These products would be available on the Magic: The Gathering website, and a wide variety of retailers (such as Hot Topic and Design By Humans). All of these graphics feature custom artwork and illustrations based on the themes of individual set releases.
